EDAN's BIO
A truly dedicated and devoted musician, Edan has been coined by many as Washington DC's leading tech-house DJ, and only one of a handful of tribal-techno DJs. From the music he produces, his profound DJ sets, and the DJs he books as a promoter, Edan has independently propelled himself to the top of the ladder.
"I want to bring music to people who might generally think they don't like 'tech-house' and make them witness the power of the deeper percussive side of electronic music. Make them feel the power of the primal, underground sound."
His love, knowledge, and passion for music are evident in every set he plays
- Edan has been heavily involved in music his entire life.
Distinctive and forward thinking with his DJ sets and production, Edan has managed to stand out from the pack. From deep tribal and downright funky influenced tech-house to driving primetime techno, Edan has proven time and time again that he knows how to move a dancefloor. Edan’s sound can cater to fit nearly any environment, a true testament to his experience. Known for his impeccable track selection, audiences understand that they will hear the future sound of dance music when Edan is in the booth. Due to his superb mixing skills and cutting-edge sound, he consistently DJs alongside some of the world’s finest national and international performers.
Edan’s production has quickly caught the attention of some of the finest DJs, producers, and labels alike. With several releases set to come out internationally, Edan’s goal is simple, to produce quality music designed to move a dancefloor. Edan's first original track with studio partner Carlo Del reached #9 on the
Balance Record Pool chart, regarded as one of the industry's most influential
charts comprised from some of the leading djs.
"Binary Opposition," a mixed CD a couple of years old now, was voted runner up in the URB Magazine 2001 mixtape contest. Here’s a quote about Binary Opposition courtesy of Agent Sunshine (www.freebeats.org). “In a time when deejaying seems more like a popularity contest and less like a showcase of skills, this mix is a total breath of fresh air. Edan’s CD is a good reminder that there are still deejays out there that know what it’s about: The love for the music and an appreciation for the beats.”
Alongside tag-team partner, DJ Hope, Edan & Hope have performed together at the majority of DC’s massive. In doing so, they have developed a loyal and ever growing fan base. Their abilities to play off of one another has been compared to the world’s best tag-teams. Possessing an uncanny way of “reading each other’s minds” has produced some truly memorable and flawless tech-house, house, and techno extended sets. Edan & Hope are no strangers to the main-rooms and lavish DJ booths that many of the world’s largest DJs have played.
As a promoter, Edan began booking and djing his own events to perpetuate the music and artists he appreciated. After forming 4twenty4 Productions in the spring of '96--two years after he started Djing--Edan was the driving force behind the highly successful CLEAR parties. Edan later teamed up with the founder of the DC rave scene--Catastrophic--and together they organized one of DC’s biggest events to date, Decadence. Decadence showcased some of dance music's finest artists, including Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Junior Sanchez, David Alverado, Julius Papp, Roy Davis Jr., Pete “The Shaker” Bones, Taj, Craze, Usual Suspects, Bailey, Edan, DJ Hope and Carlo, among others. As a promoter Edan has also produced many other unforgettable events, both independently, and with some of DC’s finest crews.
